Michael C. Thorpe, Kareem's Goggles
Presenting an exclusive group of paper collages by Michael C. Thorpe who is experiencing a meteoric rise in the Boston art scene. His collages are inspired by Pro-basketball, text art and the post-modern practice of appropriation.
This is the first online feature of Michael C. Thorpe’s paper collage work which dwells on subjects that are personal to him. A total of fifteen works on paper, made using materials such as card stock, color art paper, and pages from sports magazines. Thorpe derives his inspirations from Richard Prince and John Baldessari to produce works exploring the NBA, inspirational pro-basketballers and racial identity.
