Distant Figures: Curated by Kristen Liu-Wong and Luke Pelletier
West Coast Vibes on the East Coast!
Distant Figures, a group exhibition curated by Los Angeles artists Kristen Liu-Wong and Luke Pelletier, featuring works by:
Jillian Evelyn | Gina M. Contreras | Kristen Liu-Wong | Luke Pelletier | Stacey Rozich | Yarrow Slaps
The artists in this show use the figure to explore narrative, emotion, and personal anecdotes. While having moved around, they have all called California home at one point or another and their work is made with a Pop sensibility and an earnest interest in their subjects. These artists have been exhibiting their work in group shows together, in different capacities, for the last decade and their art has been shown in galleries in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, New York, and Hamburg. Although there is a certain amount of physical distance between the artists and their practices, there is a figurative connection in all of their work and throughout their careers.

Boston, MA — LaiSun Keane is excited to announce Distant Figures, a group exhibition curated by Los Angeles-based artists and life partners Kristen Liu-Wong and Luke Pelletier. This is the first time these six artists, many with ties to California and past collaborations with the curators, will exhibit together in Boston.
The artists in this exhibition share more than friendships, as their works share similarities and pop sensibility in their approach towards figurations. Through the exploration of the figure, each artist conveys personal stories, emotions, and narratives, making this exhibition a special addition to the Boston art scene. Collectively, these artists have exhibited both nationally and internationally, with reviews and features in publications such as Juxtapoz, Hi-Fructose, LA Times, SF Chronicle, New American Paintings, Seattle Weekly and many more.
